Rival brief · UKG Pro People Analytics
Golden Data Analytics
A use case built by reading UKG’s People Analytics literature against itself. Their own product sheet concedes the one thing that matters: the dashboards ship generic, and getting anything ideal means paying UKG’s professional services team on top of the suite. This brief is the counter-offer — an HR analytics layer that’s ready in weeks, priced in the open, and honest about its methodology. Every piece of it already runs on this site.
What UKG People Analytics actually is
It isn’t sold on its own. People Analytics is a module of UKG Pro — the full human capital management suite: payroll, benefits, talent, workforce management. To get the analytics, you first buy and implement the whole system. What you get once you’re in is a slicing interface — headcount, tenure, and pay cut by org, country, and gender across bubble charts, heat maps, and scatter plots. The kind of chart wall that looks comprehensive in a demo and says nothing in a board meeting.
“Rely on the UKG professional services team to create ideal reports and dashboards for your organization.”
UKG Pro People Analytics product profile — the last bullet of its own feature list
That’s the thesis in one line, from their side of the table. The product ships generic;ideal is a separate, unpriced engagement. The surrounding section reinforces it — a customer forum, a BI special-interest group, and a monthly webcast that exists to teach customers how to get value from the tool they already bought. And the analytics page itself carries no price anywhere: it terminates in a seven-field lead form, which means the buying motion is a sales cycle measured in months.
Five gaps, in their own words
| What they say | What it means for a buyer | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Customers should rely on the UKG professional services team for ideal reports | Out-of-box dashboards are generic. Anything tailored is a second, unpriced engagement on top of the suite contract. | Product profile PDF |
| Benchmarks come from the world’s largest collection of workforce data | The comparisons and risk scores are a black box — no visible methodology, no way to audit a number before it goes in a board deck. | ukg.com FAQ |
| No price appears anywhere on the analytics page | Analytics is bundled into a full UKG Pro contract. You can’t buy the insight layer without buying the HCM migration underneath it. | ukg.com lead-gate |
| A community forum and a monthly BI webcast teach customers to get value from the tool | The self-service claim needs a user group and a training cadence to hold — so it isn’t actually self-service. | Product profile PDF |
| Predictive burnout, attrition, and flight-risk alerts | Opaque scoring with no stated inputs or weighting — you act on a red flag you can’t explain to the person it’s about. | ukg.com feature copy |
The wedge
Every gap points at the same buyer: a company already running an HRIS — Rippling, Gusto, Workday, ADP, BambooHR, even UKG itself — that wants the analytics layer UKG advertises, without a six-to-seven-figure suite migration to get it. Mid-market, roughly 200–3,000 employees. Wants a first dashboard in weeks, not a services queue measured in quarters. Wants to explain a pay-equity number or a flight-risk flag to a board member without waving at an unnamed data collection.
The build — already proven, not hypothetical
Golden Data Analytics is four things this site already ships, aimed at one buyer. Each card links to where it runs today.
Governed ingestion, not a warehouse project
The dbt safe-publish pipeline already in production here: private tables → anonymizing models → leak-gate tests that block publish on a PII match → public views. Applied to HR data, comp and demographic detail can face a board or an all-hands as a CI-enforced guarantee, not a promise.
Narrative dashboards, not a chart wall
The battlecard structure used across a dozen case studies — the mandate, the 90-day plan, one signature visualization, requirement mapped to proof — replaces the bubble-chart grid with an answer instead of an interface to go find one.
Sourced benchmarks instead of a black box
The productivity–pay gap and CEO pay ratio dashboards — EPI-fed, public, dbt-tested — are the standing proof this practice ships pay-equity analytics where every number traces to a named public source instead of an unnamed collection.

Freshness that shows its work
The autopilot ledger reports a missed cadence instead of painting itself green — the direct answer to static, services-delivered reports. It’s also exactly what the Bench retainer rents: a fleet that keeps the data current without anyone at the keyboard.
Side by side
| UKG Pro People Analytics | Golden Data Analytics | |
|---|---|---|
| Buy standalone | No — bundled inside the full UKG Pro HCM suite | Yes — a point layer on whatever HRIS you already run |
| Pricing | Unpublished; enterprise sales cycle | Published: $5K assessment → $9.5K pilot → $30K build → $3K/mo bench |
| Time to first dashboard | Months — suite implementation, then a services engagement | Weeks, phased across a 90-day build |
| Customization | Generic out of the box; tailored reports are a separate paid engagement | Built to a specific decision from the first sprint |
| Benchmark methodology | Opaque — an unnamed workforce-data collection | Public, sourced (EPI, BLS), verifiable line by line |
| Data governance | Vendor-managed, not inspectable | A leak gate you can read the test file for |
| Freshness | Static, services-delivered reports | A live ledger that reports its own misses |
| Who it fits | Enterprise already committed to the full suite | Mid-market teams who want the layer, not the migration |
The offer, priced in the open
No new pricing model — this is the standing services ladder, scoped to People Analytics work. UKG’s page ends in a lead form; this one ends in numbers.
People Analytics Readiness Assessment
$5,000
Audit the HRIS export or API: what’s usable, what’s a leak risk, what a governed pipeline would need to anonymize.
Decision Dashboard Pilot
from $9,500
One governed, narrative dashboard shipped in weeks — pay equity, attrition, or comp-band coverage, scoped to one real decision.
The 90-day build
$30,000
The full layer: ingestion, dbt safe-publish governance, narrative dashboards, sourced benchmarks — ~120 hours over 90 days.
The Bench
$3,000/mo
10 hours a month to keep it fresh, add a dashboard a quarter, and answer the “can we also see X” ask without a services ticket.
What this is not
The teardown framing only stays credible if the offer underneath it doesn’t overreach. It doesn’t:
- Not payroll, benefits administration, or time & attendance — this sits alongside whatever HRIS a company already runs, competing only with the analytics module on top of it.
- Not an HCM replacement — no intent to migrate anyone off their system of record. That’s a different, much heavier sale this doesn’t need to make.
- Not enterprise-scale on day one — the 90-day build and the 10-hour bench are sized for a mid-market team, not a 50,000-employee rollout.
Next step
The fastest test of this wedge isn’t a landing page — it’s a battlecard against a real posting, and the first one is live:Gong’s People Analytics req, whose own JD names Workday as a source, dbt as the stack, and governance as the mandate — reframed the way Synchrony andUpbound were, with thepay-gap andCEO-ratio dashboards standing in as the sourced benchmarks UKG can’t show. Or skip the queue: theservices page prices the work directly.
