What I do with your data

Golden Data is a one-person operation. The only data this site touches is what you type into the contact form or the newsletter signup. This page covers everything that happens after you hit submit.

What gets collected

  • Newsletter signup. Your email address, and which list (Signal or Crafting) you chose.
  • Contact form. Your name, email, and message. Company and role if you fill them in (both optional).
  • Server logs. Vercel hosts this site and keeps standard request logs (IP, user agent, requested URL) for a short window. I don’t use those logs for anything beyond debugging.
  • Privacy-friendly pageview counts. I use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages people read. It’s cookieless, doesn’t fingerprint you, and doesn’t follow you to other sites. No tracking pixels, no third-party advertising cookies. The only thing stored in your browser is a theme preference (light or dark) in localStorage.

What I do with it

  • Newsletter emails get added to the mailing list and used only to send issues of the newsletter you subscribed to. You can unsubscribe from any issue with one click.
  • Contact form messages come to my inbox. I read them and usually reply within a couple of days. I don’t add contact-form emails to the newsletter or share them with anyone.
  • I don’t sell, rent, or share any of this with third parties.

Who processes it

Four services touch your data on the way to me:

  • Vercel hosts the site and runs the cookieless pageview analytics.
  • Buttondown handles newsletter signups, double opt-in, sending issues, and the unsubscribe link in every email.
  • Formspree processes contact form submissions and forwards them to my email.
  • Gmail receives anything sent to thegoldendata@gmail.com.

How long I keep it

Newsletter emails stay on the list until you unsubscribe. Contact form messages stay in my Gmail until I clean them out, usually within a year of the conversation ending. Ask and I’ll delete sooner.

Your rights

You can ask me to show you what I have on you, correct it, or delete it. Email thegoldendata@gmail.com with the subject “data request” and I’ll act on it within a week.

Children

Golden Data is written for adults working in B2B software. The site is not directed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this changes — for example, when newsletter signups move to a proper email service — I’ll update this page and date the change at the bottom.
